TO VIRGIL: SO SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT THE DEATH OF YOUR SON, DENIS. OUR SISTER LADONNA SCHLATTER E-MAILED US IN BEL AIRE KANSAS TO TELL US OF THE NEWS AND THAT SHE GOT TO VISIT WITH YOU AND FAMILY. DUE TO THE MANY MILES THIS WILL KEEP US FROM ATTENDING THE FUNERAL, BUT CONSIDER THIS A HUGE HUG, VIRGIL. FEEL SO BADLY FOR YOU. My condolences to Robin, Red, and the Ducker family in this time of grief.
Just this past May I was fortunate to have company with Denis and had a good laugh about him buying a retirement home in Tripoli for the price of a late model used car. That was 'Deke', storytelling, reminiscing, exposing the irony of a situation with belly shaking mirth. Already I feel the ache of a severed tie to shared experiences that go way back; he will be dearly missed. Hope to see you on the Other Shore, my friend, standing on the Solid Rock and holding a white stone in your hand.

Denis and I were alphabet buddies from the class of '72. Ducker, Edwards. I have many memories from school days, but it was Denis who gave me the nickname Mr Ed( the talking horse). The name Ed still sticks from some of my classmates. I I always looked forward to seeing him at the reunions. May God comfort you during this time.
